Financial Education

Money is a big issue…for most people. It certainly is a topic that can feel very scary and overwhelming, especially if money is scarce which unfortunately also is a thing for many people, believe me I can relate to the dry periods with little money and they are absolutely frightening.

I have been thinking a lot about personal finances and money lately since it is a topic I am very interested in. The last book I read was ‘rich dad, poor dad’ by Robert Kiyosaki and I have to admit that it was quite mind-blowing to me (even though the book has been written about 20 years ago, it still is all relevant today). Basically Robert Kiyosaki is saying that most of us struggle with money because we never were educated about finances. School certainly won’t teach us ho to become financially smart, how to create wealth and how the government won’t be able to take away tons of our money. Most parents also can’t pass on the knowledge of a good financial education to their children because they also never learned anything about money except for ‘work hard and save money’. Well, certain to say that this is not a winning wealth creating concept. I tried and I failed miserably. The harder I work, the more I earn, the more gets taken away through taxation and social security BS like overpriced health insurance. The rich don’t work for their money, they let their money work for them. This is one thing that I learned through reading this book.

I want to learn a lot about finances now, I want to learn about investing in stocks and ETF, I already bought a bit of crypto about almost 2 years ago and I just want to learn in general about how to create wealth and let it work for me. It is not rocket science but it is the kind of knowledge you have to learn about and teach yourself because out there nobody else who benefits from your tax money will be teaching it to you.

The more I learn, the more I will write about it here on the blog as well since finances is something pretty much everyone can relate to. Many people are scared of money because money is what is lacking but I think we have to focus on getting the right mindset that actually making money can be fun and easy instead of the old dogma of just ‘work hard and save’ which is ending up for most of us living pay check to pay check, not so much fun to live from pay check to pay check and to put the little that is left in the end of the month into a savings account.

So in order not to be scared of money and personal finances anymore it is best to learn as much about it as possible. Learning is great and fun and it is something that can never be taken away from you, your inner knowledge. And as Marie Forleo already said, ‘learners are earners’ and I wanna be one of ‘em!
